The Piggery at Stockham Farm
The Piggery has been recently refurbished to an equally extremely high standard as with the Victorian Wing of the farmhouse. A former traditional stone barn, housing many animals (not just pigs!) it was initially converted into a home over 30 years ago. The recent renovation has maintained all the original features, with oak beams and quirky elements in every room.
The accommodation now comprises of three large bedrooms – two on the ground floor (one twin and one kingsize) which share a shower room with walk in shower cubicle, and one upstairs (kingsize bed) that has the benefit of an adjacent bathroom with bath and hand shower attachment. The view from the upstairs bedroom is truly jaw-dropping – over fields, woodland and across the Exe Valley.
On the ground floor you will also find a large sitting/dining room with comfy sofas and a scrubbed pine table and chairs – as well as a gas woodburning stove, a smart TV and books to enjoy. The large kitchen is fully fitted with a dishwasher, washing machine, fan assisted oven, ceramic hob and microwave. It is roomy enough for a window seat and a chair to sit and chat while someone else does the cooking! Like the Victorian Wing, the whole of the ground floor has underfloor heating too.
We have excellent satellite broadband at Stockham and really good wifi that extends throughout the cottages and outside too! 4G reception is also good, as is mobile reception for EE and Three.
The self-contained Victorian Wing of Stockham Farm is the left hand side of the farmhouse, as seen in all the images of the house itself, with exclusive use of the main red front door and porch to access your holiday home. Parking for your cars is right outside the door. Although we live next door, the cottage is completely self-contained and you really won’t know we’re there – many of the warm, honest reviews from previous guests will attest to this!
The Piggery can be found just 50 metres above the house, close to the stables and with its own parking area alongside the fenced small pond.
It is possible to let both properties together (sleeping 10) or separately – the farm is big enough for two parties to enjoy a holiday separately and peacefully.
Stockham is less than one and a half miles up into the hills above the lovely small market town of Dulverton and with easy access to the open moorland and wooded valleys of Exmoor – perfect for four-legged friends – this location really is the best of both worlds.
Dulverton is an idyllic small town, full of friendly independent shops, and affectionately known as the Gateway to Exmoor. You can discover the bridge over the River Barle, the Co-Op, the delicatessen, the butchers, the bakers, the greengrocers, numerous tea rooms, Isis Beauty Salon, fabulous independent shops, Rothwell & Dunworth rare bookshop, three hairdressers, and delicious food and amazing service at Woods Bar and Restaurant and the Bridge Inn. Don’t miss a peek into beautiful All Saints Church, especially with its incredible carpet of snowdrops in early spring.

Thank you very much! The house is very beautiful and the massive garden outside provided an amazing space for sunbathing! The views are also fantastic. The resident horses, Jack and Bailey, were so lovely and we all loved to spend hours just stroking them. Our favourite was Toffee, who is so sweet. The owners were very welcoming – thank you for the cake! The house is way bigger than we thought it was going to be and is truly special. Thank you again.
