Luxury Self Catering Holiday Cottages on Exmoor

The Victorian Wing at Stockham Farm

There are two holiday cottages at Stockham Farm to choose from. The Victorian Wing of the farmhouse sleeps four in two bedrooms and the Piggery sleeps 6 in three bedrooms. Both are situated on the farm, in a truly stunning Exmoor setting - with beautiful, sympathetic decor, panoramic views and tranquility guaranteed. Each cottage has its own private garden area, with tables, chairs and bbqs, and guests in both cottages are also welcome to explore the farm's 35 acres, where you will find horses, Exmoor Horn sheep and abundant wildlife, including rare Red Deer which come right up to the pond to drink on summer evenings.

The Victorian Wing is the beautifully refurbished and spacious wing of a traditional period Exmoor farmhouse. Completely self-contained, the cottage has the grand farmhouse front door and porch (great for removing muddy boots and drying off muddy paws) which leads into the large sitting-room.  This warm, welcoming and characterful room boasts underfloor heating, as well as a fabulous inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove! With comfy chairs, a huge sofa, bookcases, board games and a smart TV, all creature comforts are there for you.

From a half-landing you will find the bespoke kitchen/dining-room with views of the orchard from the old pine table, as well as the luxury bathroom. These two rooms both have underfloor heating, and the kitchen has a dishwasher, a washing machine and a microwave in addition to the ceramic hob and fan assisted oven.  On the first floor both of the cosy, comfortable bedrooms have lovely rural views across the paddocks to the hills beyond. One bedroom has a kingsize bed and the other has a superking size bed that can be changed into a pair of full size twin beds if guests prefer.

We have excellent satellite broadband at Stockham and really good wifi that extends throughout the cottages and outside too! 4G reception is also good, as is mobile reception for EE and Three.

Self Catering

Sleeps 4 and 6

The self-contained Victorian Wing of Stockham Farm is the left hand side of the farmhouse, as seen in all the images of the house itself, with exclusive use of the main red front door and porch to access your holiday home.  Parking for your cars is right outside the door. Although we live next door, the cottage is completely self-contained and you really won’t know we’re there - many of the warm, honest reviews from previous guests will attest to this!

The Piggery can be found just 50 metres above the house, close to the stables and with its own parking area alongside the fenced small pond.

It is possible to let both properties together (sleeping 10) or separately - the farm is big enough for two parties to enjoy a holiday separately and peacefully.

Stockham is less than one and a half miles up into the hills above the lovely small market town of Dulverton and with easy access to the open moorland and wooded valleys of Exmoor – perfect for four-legged friends – this location really is the best of both worlds.

Dulverton is an idyllic small town, full of friendly independent shops, and affectionately known as the Gateway to Exmoor. You can discover the bridge over the River Barle, the Co-Op, the delicatessen, the butchers, the bakers, the greengrocers, numerous tea rooms, Isis Beauty Salon, fabulous independent shops, Rothwell & Dunworth rare bookshop, three hairdressers, and delicious food and amazing service at Woods Bar and Restaurant and the Bridge Inn.  Don't miss a peek into beautiful All Saints Church, especially with its incredible carpet of snowdrops in early spring.

Reviews for the Victorian Wing cottage

  • The S Family - February 2020

We spent a long weekend in February with our kids to get away from it all and so some walking in the countryside. The cottage was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean, with a massive wood burner and big smart TV for cozy evenings on the sofa. There were also loads of books and board games so you'd struggle to get bored. We were welcomed by Jeff and Ali with a bottle of Prosecco and some of his homemade scones with clotted cream and jam which lasted all of 5 minutes! Highly recommended!

  • Miss C - January 2020

Beautiful home, comfy bed, spotlessly clean, fantastic location. Our personal highlights were walking up to Dunkery Beacon (for the sunset views) and dinner at Woods in Dulverton... both amazing!

  • Mr and Mrs J - September 2019

What a find! Absolutely perfect cottage for a relaxing break - so comfortable with everything we needed. We felt totally at home here. Thanks for all those touches that made it stress-free - tea, coffee and basic cooking ingredients provided, loo roll and soap - might sound silly but it made such a difference! Loved it and hope to return.

  • The S Family - July 2019

We had a wonderful weekend in this idyllic place! The cottage is charming and the location couldn't be any better. We thoroughly enjoyed the walks and spectacular views, the girls loved meeting the resident horses and their encounters with Sid the puppy! A delicious Sunday lunch at Woods in Dulverton - not to be missed, great food and great wine list. Thank you Ali and Jeff for your friendly hospitality - Stockham Farm is a truly special place.

  • Mr and Mrs B + Bertie - May 2019

We don't think we'll ever find a lovelier holiday cottage than here at Stockham Farm: beauty and tranquility, stunning views and lovely hosts - thank you Ali and Jeff for sharing your wonderful home in this way. We hope very much to return this year.

  • The M Family - April 2019

Thank you for a wonderful week. We've had a superb, relaxing holiday and F (son, aged 6) has really enjoyed Sid's, and also your company. Our favourite places to visit were the sunny walk from Marsh Bridge near Dulverton along the river, Dunster Castle & Hill, Knightshayes and fossil hunting on Watchet beach. F's really loved staying here, scootering at speed down the road, the enchanting stream in the garden, Easter trails for Sid (and everyone else). A truly wonderful holiday in a perfect location.
