The Victorian Wing at Stockham Farm

There are two holiday cottages at Stockham Farm to choose from. The Victorian Wing of the farmhouse sleeps four in two bedrooms and the Piggery sleeps 6 in three bedrooms. Both are situated on the farm, in a truly stunning Exmoor setting - with beautiful, sympathetic decor, panoramic views and tranquility guaranteed. Each cottage has its own private garden area, with tables, chairs and bbqs, and guests in both cottages are also welcome to explore the farm's 35 acres, where you will find horses, Exmoor Horn sheep and abundant wildlife, including rare Red Deer which come right up to the pond to drink on summer evenings.

The Victorian Wing is the beautifully refurbished and spacious wing of a traditional period Exmoor farmhouse. Completely self-contained, the cottage has the grand farmhouse front door and porch (great for removing muddy boots and drying off muddy paws) which leads into the large sitting-room.  This warm, welcoming and characterful room boasts underfloor heating, as well as a fabulous inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove! With comfy chairs, a huge sofa, bookcases, board games and a smart TV, all creature comforts are there for you.

From a half-landing you will find the bespoke kitchen/dining-room with views of the orchard from the old pine table, as well as the luxury bathroom. These two rooms both have underfloor heating, and the kitchen has a dishwasher, a washing machine and a microwave in addition to the ceramic hob and fan assisted oven.  On the first floor both of the cosy, comfortable bedrooms have lovely rural views across the paddocks to the hills beyond. One bedroom has a kingsize bed and the other has a superking size bed that can be changed into a pair of full size twin beds if guests prefer.

We have excellent satellite broadband at Stockham and really good wifi that extends throughout the cottages and outside too! 4G reception is also good, as is mobile reception for EE and Three.

The self-contained Victorian Wing of Stockham Farm is the left hand side of the farmhouse, as seen in all the images of the house itself, with exclusive use of the main red front door and porch to access your holiday home.  Parking for your cars is right outside the door. Although we live next door, the cottage is completely self-contained and you really won’t know we’re there - many of the warm, honest reviews from previous guests will attest to this!

The Piggery can be found just 50 metres above the house, close to the stables and with its own parking area alongside the fenced small pond.

It is possible to let both properties together (sleeping 10) or separately - the farm is big enough for two parties to enjoy a holiday separately and peacefully.

Stockham is less than one and a half miles up into the hills above the lovely small market town of Dulverton and with easy access to the open moorland and wooded valleys of Exmoor – perfect for four-legged friends – this location really is the best of both worlds.

Dulverton is an idyllic small town, full of friendly independent shops, and affectionately known as the Gateway to Exmoor. You can discover the bridge over the River Barle, the Co-Op, the delicatessen, the butchers, the bakers, the greengrocers, numerous tea rooms, Isis Beauty Salon, fabulous independent shops, Rothwell & Dunworth rare bookshop, three hairdressers, and delicious food and amazing service at Woods Bar and Restaurant and the Bridge Inn.  Don't miss a peek into beautiful All Saints Church, especially with its incredible carpet of snowdrops in early spring.

Reviews for the Victorian Wing cottage

  • Mr and Mrs H - December 2020

We’ve had a brilliant break in your fantastic Victorian Wing – our spaniel has never had so many pheasants to sniff and dream about! This stay has been just the tonic we needed, we will be back and will enthusiastically recommend you to friends and family – you have a super bolthole here. Very many thanks.

  • Mr and Mrs T + Bertie - October 2020

We spent a long weekend in February wWe have enjoyed the most wonderful week staying in this lovely cottage – a real home from home in a really beautiful setting. Our first time holidaying in Exmoor and with so much to see and do, we shall have to return. We enjoyed many picturesque walks and two delicious dinners at Woods in Dulverton. Thank you for a very warm welcome, and delicious scones and fizz!

  • Mrs A (Germany) - September 2020

We had a great week in your beautiful house. Thank you for the warm welcome and the welcome in the kitchen. Exmoor is beautiful, we have seen a lot and made great walks. One week is much too short, we would have liked to stay longer. Many greetings!

  • The S Family - September 2020

We’ve had a lovely stay here. The cottage is spacious, yet cosy, with everything you could need. Thanks for making us so welcome and for the amazing welcome pack. Enjoyed visits to Tarr Steps, Porlock Weir, Valley of the Rocks and Dunkery Beacon.Beautiful home, comfy bed, spotlessly clean, fantastic location. Our personal highlights were walking up to Dunkery Beacon (for the sunset views) and dinner at Woods in Dulverton... both amazing!

  • The O'R Family - August 2020

Thank you all for being so welcoming to us all. The cottage has been just ideal – cosy, clean, comfy and the sweeping views as you walk out the door have been everything we’ve dreamed of during lockdown in London. Thank you especially for being so kind and generous to the children – they’ve had a holiday they’ll never forget and are already chatting about returning and even living in Exmoor when they grown up! We highly recommend Pine Lodge for horse riding for anyone with children – the girls at the stables were great teachers and was a magical experience.

  • The B Family + Rosco - August 2020

How delighted were we when we arrived and found this beautiful, clean, comfy cottage in marvellous countryside! Thank you for the gluten free scones and flowers/wine. A lovely touch! I especially appreciated the book selection which is uncannily matched to my own tastes! Many thanks. We’ll recommend you to friends!

  • The P Family - July 2020

Thank you so much for another wonderful stay. Everything was perfect, from the homemade scones on arrival (lovely, Esme!) to the beautiful cottage, but especially the adorable Sid and Dottie. We will miss their happy greetings on our return from exploring Exmoor each day, and joining us for our morning coffee in the orchard garden. Hope to come back soon. Thanks again.

  • Mr and Mrs G + Sally - July 2020

What a splendid and beautiful spot. We had the most tranquil and relaxing time. The cottage was so comfy and wish we could have stayed longer. Esme’s scones were memorable! Thank you so much for your care and hospitality.

  • Mr and Mrs S + Bertie - March 2020

Thank you, Ali and Jeff, for a most relaxing week at Stockham Farm. It has been a joy to return to the haven and warmth of our bit of the farm every evening, having battled with all weathers during our walks with Bertie. Very best wishes to you both

  • The S Family - February 2020

We spent a long weekend in February with our kids to get away from it all and so some walking in the countryside. The cottage was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean, with a massive wood burner and big smart TV for cozy evenings on the sofa. There were also loads of books and board games so you'd struggle to get bored. We were welcomed by Jeff and Ali with a bottle of Prosecco and some of his homemade scones with clotted cream and jam which lasted all of 5 minutes! Highly recommended!
