Here’s what some recent guests have said about their stay in the Victorian Wing cottage…
The Victorian Wing cottage is amazing, the location and views from the property are truly exceptional. The family are all super friendly and we loved meeting the two dogs Dottie and Sid. The house is really lovely and well furnished, with everything you need.
We had a great week in your beautiful house. Thank you for the warm welcome and the welcome in the kitchen. Exmoor is beautiful, we have seen a lot and made great walks. One week is much too short, we would have liked to stay longer. Many greetings!
Thank you all for being so welcoming to us all. The cottage has been just ideal – cosy, clean, comfy and the sweeping views as you walk out the door have been everything we’ve dreamed of during lockdown in London. Thank you especially for being so kind and generous to the children – they’ve had a holiday they’ll never forget and are already chatting about returning and even living in Exmoor when they grown up! We highly recommend Pine Lodge for horse riding for anyone with children – the girls at the stables were great teachers and was a magical experience.
We spent a long weekend in February with our kids to get away from it all and so some walking in the countryside. The cottage was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean, with a massive wood burner and big smart TV for cozy evenings on the sofa. There were also loads of books and board games so you’d struggle to get bored. We were welcomed by Jeff and Ali with a bottle of Prosecco and some homemade scones with clotted cream and jam which lasted all of 5 minutes! Highly recommended!
Thank you so much for another wonderful stay. Everything was perfect, from the homemade scones on arrival (lovely, Esme!) to the beautiful cottage, but especially the adorable Sid and Dottie. We will miss their happy greetings on our return from exploring Exmoor each day, and joining us for our morning coffee in the orchard garden. Hope to come back soon. Thanks again.
We’ve had a lovely stay here. The cottage is spacious, yet cosy, with everything you could need. Thanks for making us so welcome and for the amazing welcome pack. Enjoyed visits to Tarr Steps, Porlock Weir, Valley of the Rocks and Dunkery Beacon.
Thank you, Ali and Jeff, for a most relaxing week at Stockham Farm. It has been a joy to return to the haven and warmth of our bit of the farm every evening, having battled with all weathers during our walks with Bertie. Very best wishes to you both.
We have enjoyed the most wonderful week staying in this lovely cottage – a real home from home in a really beautiful setting. Our first time holidaying in Exmoor and with so much to see and do, we shall have to return. We enjoyed many picturesque walks and two delicious dinners at Woods in Dulverton. Thank you for a very warm welcome, and delicious scones and fizz!
Beautiful home, comfy bed, spotlessly clean, fantastic location. Our personal highlights were walking up to Dunkery Beacon (for the sunset views) and dinner at Woods in Dulverton… both amazing!
What a find! Absolutely perfect cottage for a relaxing break – so comfortable with everything we needed. We felt totally at home here. Thanks for all those touches that made it stress-free – tea, coffee and basic cooking ingredients provided, loo roll and soap – might sound silly but it made such a difference! Loved it and hope to return.
…and in The Piggery cottage…
What a warm and welcoming place (scones, fizz etc) and all clean, tidy and well provided for. Just so nice when you arrive after a long car journey – or anytime! And what a wonderful position and view – so incredibly restorative – thank you, thank you!
Thank you for making our stay away from home so comfortable. We have had a lovely time exploring the countryside and the local town, and chasing sunsets amongst the sheep. You have a charming cottage. Homemade scones and fizz most welcome also. Big thanks!
Thank you very much. We enjoyed the scones and fizz! We have had a great week exploring the area. Very pretty river walks and lovely town of Dulverton. Garden great for star gazing!
We have all had a great time here at The Piggery. It has been warm, comfortable and cosy throughout. The kitchen is well resourced and everything supplied has made for a really relaxing time. For country-lovers is was lovely to see all the natural beauty of the area and we were pleased to hear the constant ‘bolving’ of the rutting stags!! As a special note we would thoroughly recommend the evening meal at Woods in Dulverton. Superb food! Thank you so much Ali and Jeff.
A wonderful stay as usual and such a treat to be able to bring the dogs, given the nature of the lovely accommodation with all its facilities. Our highlights included trips to Dulverton, BBQs, stag spotting walks, sunny breakfasts sat outside, Dottie, Sid and relaxing by the fire in the evenings. We are already looking forward to next year’s stay!
Such a beautiful cottage and location, we have loved every minute, even in the pouring rain! Dulverton is such a pleasant little town with everything needed in supply. Can recommend Woods, had fabulous food there, and very cosy in the Bridge Inn, dogs are made very welcome. Haddon Hill is stunning for walking and Winsford is a great little village. This area is so lovely it doesn’t matter where you go!! Many thanks for making us so welcome.
Such a wonderful stay. Incredible hospitality. Thank you so much. Kids had a fantastic time – Doggy Finn even more so! Thank you to Esme for her amazing baking – what wonderful memories. Looking forward be being back soon.
Thank you for such a fantastic stay! We loved exploring the local area, taking big long walks, pub visits and then curling up in front of the fire. The Piggery was everything we could have asked for, comfortable, clean and cosy – and thank you for making us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back soon!
A perfect setting for our stay in the stylish and comfortable Piggery. We enjoyed all the personal touches and the welcome from humans and animals alike! Hope to visit again one day.
Thank you both for such a wonderful couple of days! The Piggery is lovely, finished so well and we loved the final touches – including the delicious scones! Such a stunning spot on the hill and we were made up with you showing us the stags in the field! Thank you for being such great hosts, hopefully we will be able to write in this book again soon!
Thank you for a relaxing holiday in your wonderful cottage. Lovely walks right from the doorstep, and fantastic views from the trig point on the top of the hill. The cream tea and bottle of bubbly was a real treat and much appreciated.
A stunning cottage set in an idyllic rural location, very close to the friendly village of Dulverton. The cottage itself is perfect. It’s peaceful, private and very cosy with underfloor heating and an attractive fireplace. We found it to be a home away from home, with everything you could need – the kitchen was especially well-equipped. It’s also worth mentioning the beautiful views and large modern bath. We greatly appreciated the goodies left for us, and very much enjoyed the scones, clotted cream, jam and Prosecco and thought it was a lovely touch! We were busy exploring during the day times and found the cottage to be the perfect central hub for that. We recommend walks from Tarr Steps to Withypool where there is a lovely pub, The Valley of the Rocks and Watersmeet; we know there are also many fantastic walks straight from the door should you want to stick closer to ‘home’. You don’t have to goo far to see the special (now endangered) Exmoor ponies either. I was very pleased to see them as many years ago my first pony was a native Exmoor pony, Oscar. There are many great dining options and we enjoyed dinner at The Bridge Inn and Woods, both of which were excellent choices food-wise and very welcoming and accommodation to us and our large dog. We also enjoyed a Thai takeaway one evening from Tongdam – totally unexpected to find a good Thai restaurant in Dulverton but we recommend that for a carefree no cooking night indoors. We wanted to enjoy the cottage of an evening as it was such a lovely space to be in. We really hope to be back again and really couldn’t fault our stay. Thank you to Ali and Jeff for a wonderful mini holiday.
