Two Unique Self Catering Holiday Cottages on Exmoor
The cottage is the beautifully refurbished and spacious Victorian Wing of a traditional period Exmoor farmhouse in a truly stunning setting. Completely self-contained, the cottage has its grand front door and porch (great for removing muddy boots and drying off muddy paws) which leads into the large sitting-room. This warm, welcoming and characterful room boasts underfloor heating, as well as a fabulous inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove! With comfy chairs, a huge sofa, bookcases, board games and a smart TV, all creature comforts are there for you.
From a half-landing you will find the bespoke kitchen/dining-room with views of the orchard from the old pine table, as well as the luxury bathroom. These two rooms both have underfloor heating, and the kitchen has a dishwasher, a washing machine and a microwave in addition to the ceramic oven and fan assisted oven. On the first floor both of the cosy, comfortable bedrooms have lovely rural views across the paddocks to the hills beyond.
Outside, you can enjoy the delightful orchard garden all to yourselves, or spread out on the large lawn and really appreciate the sensational views across the Exe Valley. Both areas have tables, chairs and deckchairs – and there is a BBQ for guests’ use. Our guests are also most welcome to explore the farm’s 35 acres.
We have excellent satellite broadband at Stockham and really good wifi that extends throughout the house and outside too! 4G reception is also good, as is mobile reception for EE and Three.
STOP PRESS! OPENING MARCH 2019! From 1 March 2019 we shall also be launching the Piggery at Stockham Farm – an historic stone building which will again be completely refurbished to an extremely high standard and will sleep six people in three double bedrooms (with two bathrooms) and a woodburning stove, private garden and great wifi! Get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org to book either or both properties together!
In the Heart of Exmoor
The self-contained Victorian Wing of Stockham Farm is the left hand side of the farmhouse, as seen in all the images of the house itself, with exclusive use of the main red front door and porch to access your holiday home. Although we live next door, the cottage is completely self-contained and you really won’t know we’re there – many of the warm, honest reviews from previous guests will attest to this!
Stockham is just one and a half miles up into the hills above the lovely market town of Dulverton and with easy access to the open moorland and wooded valleys of Exmoor – perfect for four-legged friends – this location is the best of both worlds. Dulverton is an idyllic small town, full of friendly independent shops, and affectionately known as the Gateway to Exmoor. You can discover the bridge over the River Barle, the Bridge Inn, the Co-Op, the delicatessen, numerous tea rooms, Isis Beauty Salon, fabulous shopping, Rothwell & Dunworth rare bookshop, hairdressers, a barber shop, fine dining at Woods Bar and Restaurant and All Saints Church with its incredible carpet of snowdrops in early spring.
Mr and Mrs Chris B + Dennis - July 2018
A magical space in a very special place! A haven of peace and tranquility hidden away on the edge of Exmoor. Well done Jeff and Ali for creating such a wonderful holiday experience! We will be back sometime soon. Dennis (the dog) felt very relaxed here!
Mrs Karen P – July 2018
Lovely accommodation set in a very peaceful and tranquil position. Both bedrooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. They have views over the gardens and paddocks. The kitchen/diner is large and airy. Very well equipped with everything you could need. The lounge is very welcoming with comfy sofas and a lovely inglenook fireplace with a woodburner stove. There is a lovely garden with plenty of chairs to relax in. The owners are very knowledgeable about the area and suggested quite a few places to visit. We had a great bbq with them on our last night. We were made to feel very welcome and would return for a longer visit next time.
